I have been paying attention to the Political Parties that have anything to say about Medical Marijuana.  The reason I have been paying attention to this started because of getting involved with MPP.Org.

When I first started talking to them I mentioned the fact that I am Registered in New York as a Republican, (I hear your Groans from here)  They were in shock that a Registered Republican is asking to get involved in the New York Legalization movement.  Plus throw in the fact that I live in the District that the NY Senate Majority Leader represents who is also a republican was a total shock.

My problem with this is when I see online discussions everytime someone starts to debate the issue and says something like, "There are better medications" everyone assumes that it is a Republican typing that.  To me this should not even be a political issue.  I was talking to an old friend the other day, one I have known for almost 30 years. He is a physics proffesor at some college.  He said to me, "I can't stand Politics, although I can prove something scientific politicians want to find out the benefit to them before they will agree."

I do not 100% agree with my friends generalizations on this but I do see where he is coming from.  For some reason I see that people are hung up on which political party you are and for some reason that is suppose to mean that you are 100% in agreement of that parties views.  That is not True, I am Republican, I am also Conservative, but I also have common sense, if a group of Doctors tell me that they can use Marijuana to ease my suffering then I am going to look into it.  If a group of Doctors tell me that it will help the Suffering of thousands of patients and with less risk than I am going to believe them and fight for their science, their expertise, their knowledge.  Politicians are not experts on everything, unfortunatly most of them think they are.
