I don't know about you, but I'm pretty psyched about this whole business with "Anonymous" and "Project Chanology"-- it feels like it's really something. For those of you who are unaware, there is a war being waged against Scientology on the Internet and in "the real world". You can find all the information you need on the above link to Project Chanology wiki, but to keep you up to date, there have been video taped, non-violent raids on Scientology in Orlando, FL, New York, NY, Canada and more. The Scientology web site was taken down for a day or so by a DDoS perpatrated by Anonymous, the leaderless movement of people dedicated to flushing Scientology down the drain. If there is no leader, there is no defeat. If there is no single mind, there is no corruption. We are many, we are legion.
I've been floating aroun on IRC, moving around different message boards and talking to people about this whole thing and it's LARGE. There are IRC channels set up for most major cities, even Australia and New Zealand are onboard. I'm excited because I've always been angry with Scientology and how they exploit their members for money.. also, this is the biggest thing to happen on the net in recent memory.
Check the chanology wiki for a status report, where to organize, how to raid, fliers, anti-propaganda, and general information on taking this insane cult to the ground, for good. This will _not_ happen over night, we will not destroy the beast in a short amount of time. The followers of Scientology are ASLEEP, their third eyes spraypainted shut by fanatics and brain washing-- help wake them up! Bring light into an otherwise dark existence, join Anonymous, raid in your town and pass out literature to passers by, don't let anyone else get sucked in.
This is considerably off topic from my usual posts, but I really believe in this movement. Learn about what's going on. Thank you.

Yep, I've been watching it
Yep, I've been watching it myself.
At first, I wasn't sure who I should be rooting for. It looked like Anonymous was trying to destroy Scientology's Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Religion. But, it turns out they just want to spread the "secrets" of the "church."
That makes it okay in my book. :)
I plan on watching this with great interest in the next few weeks.
 You can read more news
You can read more news items about this on http://groups.google.co.uk/group/alt.religion.scientology/topics?hl=en&lnk=srg
There appear to be anon people posting updates there.
I just wish to add that I could never condone activity such as this, but it sure does provide lulz in abundance. What's going on at digg.com? There used to be loads of stuff there about this... also youtube.com banned some anon videos...
I think Scientology is a
I think Scientology is a crock, but your ending..."think for yourself, question authority" is such a joke. What you are saying is "think like me, be trendy with me under the guise of being alternative". idiotic. And Bill Hicks makes a really enlightened point, true marijuana is a naturally growing plant, but so is Elderberry and it would be stupid to eat it. That logic is flawed, as is most of the crap you "enlightened" people spout.ÂÂ
Lisa McPhearson is no
Lisa McPhearson is no different than the other hundreds of cases of people dying because they thought their faith would heal them. It's sad that she died, and a shame that she trusted her religious leaders more than actual doctors. If she was mentally unstable after the accident, as reports claim, that probably contributed to the poor judgement. But looking over the reports from several sources (and there are MANY that have collected in the past decade), nobody forced her into anything. The law cannot force you to seek medical attention unless you're a threat to others.
And another thing. The Lisa McPhearson incedent happened in 1995. Is this the only instance anyone can bring up? I have only heard of this and Noah Lottick. Who are these people who are falling off the map who are linked to being outspoken against Scientology? Are there any? If so, may I point out that, in Iraq, groups of militant Islamic radicals are killing masses for not believing their way? Why not devote time to something useful like taking down extremist Islam? It seems like a more virtuous endeavor.
Scientology seems to me to be largely a religion of rich people and celebrities. It's their choice to pay for their so called "enlightenment." People also have the choice to pay for timeshares. They get misled into it, but it is still their choice.
'Anonymous' seems to talk about Scientology as less of a cult and more of a Mafia-like organization. This could lead one to believe that the whole "project" is formed from the paranoid delusions of a kid who watches too many conspiracy videos.
And why hasn't anyone taken into account that the church of Scientology also has a freedom to speech. They are not the exemption to the 1st amendment.
This whole operation is just one big hate crime waiting to happen. I'll be on stand-by with an "I told you so."

Scientology isn't getting
If only there was a movement
Why fight Scientology? Is
Why fight Scientology? Is it a religion or a cult?
Here's the answer to both:
* Scientology's harassment and litigious policies against its critics and against free speech.
* Scientology's belief that they are the only ones that can help the world ( make the world “clear ), thus being intolerant of other religions – something they fight for when it’s their religion being attacked.
* Scientology's disconnection policy, which requires members to cut all ties to friends and family considered "antagonistic" towards the religion ( a basic practice of all cults ).
* Scientology's affirmation that anything written by L Ron Hubbard is the true and definitive word. It can not be altered or disputed (a single messianic figure, another basic practice of all cults).
* Scientology's attack on psychiatry solely because psychiatry attacked L Ron Hubbard for practicing medicine without a license and having no scientific proof that his form of psychotherapy worked. (once, after stating that Dianetics improved one’s memory, a person declared as “clear couldn’t even remember the color of Hubbard’s tie). L Ron Hubbard turned Dianetics into Scientology in order to continue to make money and avoid criminal charges.
* Scientology's contribution scheme requires you to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to reach the highest level of their “Bridge to Total Freedom. Making money is one of the sole functions of each “org – organization - aka “mission ( KSW – Keep Scientology Working is their motto).
* Scientology's misleading images of using the cross ( a symbol of Christianity ), the words “
* Scientology’s deceptive marketing strategies used to lure you into purchasing courses intended to help you achieve your “full potential. These include the “Free Personality Test, that always points out problems they can help you with if you paid them, and through frontline organizations such as ABLE, The Way to Happiness and Applied Scholastics which introduce potential members (including school age children ) to the teachings of L Ron Hubbard and his made up terminology ( which requires a Scientology dictionary to understand ).
* The death of a Scientologist Lisa McPherson while in the care of the Church. The Church settled this case out of court.
* The suicide of Noah Lottick who jumped from the roof of a building because he had no more money to give the Church.ÂÂ
* Criminal activities committed on behalf of the Church and directed by Church officials such as Operation Freakout and Operation Snow White in which L Ron Hubbard’s wife was sent to prison.ÂÂ
* Conflicting statements about L. Ron Hubbard's life, in particular false accounts of Hubbard’s education (he flunked out of
* All-in-all, Scientology is based on lies and the ego of one man. It is a scam in global proportions.
Hello, if any anomous are
Hello, if any anomous are reading this, good. Scientology dead? good. I agree. Random attacks, fuck you. Stop, or there will be repercussions. Stick to killing scientology, stop with the fucking LULZ. Or if you are gonna do it, leave an obvious calling card. Don't hurt innocent people. You hate scientology, therefor I support you. I will even be willing to lend my assistance. Keep up the good work, cut down with the bad.
Odie at Amo.
I'm glad you're interested,
I'm glad you're interested, why watch when you can take part? Surely there are raids planned for your neck of the woods. Anonymous is _not_ about taking away freedom of speech or freedom of religion, they are exposing an evil organization, created to sap money from the weak minded and the depressed and hopeless.
Look for me on irc.partyvan.org
Not about the lulz, it's
*gets shovel for obvious
*gets shovel for obvious load of bullshit*
Ok dude, "Think For yourself, question authority" is a quote from Timothy Leary and it's VERY relivent and in no way "think like me, vbe trendy with me under the guide of being alternative" -- I'm not sure what that means, but fuck you. I don't invite anyone to think like me and by no means was it "trendy" -- if free thought was trendy, we wouldn't be in this mess.
Oh yeah, Elderberry doesn't have a million uses both medicinal and otherwise. Stop being so negative, go smoke a joint.
Shut up scifag.
Shut up scifag
Shut up scifag
Alright yah Xenu loving
Alright yah Xenu loving freakoid, here's what I have to say:
You're full of shit.
It doesn't matter how long ago it happened, you and those like you KILLED HER, her blood is on scientology's hands. Deal with it.
I'm sorry you're so brainwashed you can't see the "church" for what it is...
You guys doom yourselves to
You guys doom yourselves to failure with your refusal to come up with any solid argument against scientology.
Most normal people know that scientology is a bunch of bull already. But what will verbally tearing down a hokey religion with stupid arguements prove? That you're a stoner trying to feel important? How much you want to bet that people join scientology to feel important? You guys are no different from the people you think you're going to tear down, but you've made up your minds that you're obviously the greater good.
Guess what, people have gotten killed at protests before. Trampling is not uncommon. Should we try to topple protest groups? Think of the blood of those who died in riots caused by protests. That blood is on your hands by your logic.
Scientology is flat out bull crap and pretty much everyone outside of LA knows it. But unless you can conjure up a better arguement than two deaths in 20 years and questionable financial records, you're not going to make a point to anyone but drunks, druggies, crazies, and the weak minded. Especially if the best you can do it bring Xenu into it, of all things. What the hell, anyway? Are you accusing me of believing in aliens? You cut me deep with that one... oh yeah.
If you're going to attempt a take-down, you're going to need a solid arguement, and two deaths aren't nearly enough to go on.
People have died in the name of Christianity because they thought their faith would heal them. People who clearly needed to see a doctor. Heck, the American health care system dooms hundreds to their deaths every year because of expensive meds, malpractice, and denial of proper psychiatric care to name a few. And there are constant documented cases of all of that. Why not picket in front of hospitals?
Parinoia is a dangerous foe my friend. And unless you have a solid enough grip on reality to come up with more than a bunch of fear induced insults, this project is never going to be seen as anything more than a bunch of kids blinded by hatred of something they hate for no logical reason.
I'm no sympathiser of scientology, and I definately don't believe in Xenu (you idiot). But I'm still on stand-by with that "I told you so." Just wait.
Peace.

I saw protesters near Mills
I saw protesters near Mills Rd. in Orlando today (near a small scientology reading room) and I wanted to ask some questions here:
Where's the logic in forming a cult-like group in order to take down a cult-like group? What is more evil, the evil or the evil formed to take down the other evil? See, no logic.
Also, if you're trying to run an effective protest, what is the point of putting on stupid costumes and holding up crappy signs? Mills Rd. is near a very artsy part of town. Holding up signs that look like they were written by a child in a hurry while wearing a silly gangster outfit (or afro in some cases) only makes the public less attracted to the idea of the protest.
Also, the signes threw around a lot of "Scientology is evil," "Scientology is a cult," Scientology kills" and stuff like that. However, nobody offered any explaination as to why. They simply bombard your car with poorly xeroxed fliers on your windshield.
Also, if there is no leader, how the hell is there an organization? There's always a leader people. Anonymity is fine, but insulting people's intelligence by saying there's no leader? Silly. Very silly.
I'm no supporter of scientology, but this whole thing seems like a poorly justified 'cult' of a bunch of pot heads with nothing better to do than b*tch. It's like Chris Griffin says, there's a reason it's called "dope."ÂÂ
Peace.
-Anonymous (irony intended)
And by the way, all of this
And by the way, all of this slinging around of this "We are many, we are legion" crap. Probably not going to win too many people your cause using the dialogue of a biblical DEMON army.

Well, I almost didn't want
Well, I almost didn't want to dignify this with a response, but instead I'll just respond. Yeah, sure there are probably some really poorly thought out protests, the reason for the masks is because scientologists will send private investigators after you, once they have taken your picture and you're enough of a threat. Poorly made signs and xerox's is poor execution on their part and it's a shame they didn't educate people like you more about the cause. This "cult-like group" you say are activists, they are organized under one belief, the leaders of scientology are exploiting the weak minded for their money and their service, they have killed members of their own church like Lisa McPhearson.. they sue at the drop of a hat and have adopted the Fair game policy. If you have done no research about scientologies evils, I could see why you would think this way,
Anonymous is by no means a cult like group, they are people concerned with the current state of Scientology and their death grip on many front businesses and lives. Have a litle more faith.
It might, but I'm pretty
It might, but I'm pretty sure the demon reference is because Scientologists think the SP's are out to get them and are inhabited by evil spirits.
I believe you that you're not a scientologist, but I'm sad to see you have such a negative view on the whole thing. Plenty of people are going about it wrong, but it's very interesting to see and I believe in the cause. Sure, Lisa M's death was in '95.. but the fact that the church went to those lengths is terrible and with their highly secrative nature, doesn't it seem likely there are more dasterdly deeds afoot? I just don't think the higher ups should be allowed to exploit their followers out of money, promise them super powers and have the luxury of tax exempt status. If you haven't done some thorough research on Scientology, The Sea Organization, their various front organizations, the Tom Cruise video, please look into it..
