Two weeks ago I found out that my Uncle was Diagnosed with cancer of the esophogus. They did tests and found out that it has spread all over his body. He was told that he has 6 months, or maybe a year with chemo treatments. I went up to visit this weekend. Last week he had his first treatment and was not doing to well. It was a very rough weekend, he was sick all weekend. I talked to my Aunt yesterday and she said that he has told the doctor that he will not take any more treatments. He told them that he would rather die in 6 months than wish he was dead for a year.ÂÂ
I would love to see him have some relief for the last year of his life. The Chemo may only extend his life a couple more months but if Marijuana was legal to use for medical reasons here in NY he may actually be able to take the treatments and enjoy the rest of his time.ÂÂ
Almost two years ago I watched another person close to the family die of cancer. She was living in California when she was going though the first treatments, she was perscribed Marijuana. When she was told that she would not make it and they could do treatments to extend her life she moved back home near her family, New York. She knew the benefits of Medical Marijuana and wanted to use it but it was more important to her to be near her loved ones before she left this world. I talked to her about it and was sent out many times to get her the Medicine she was able to use in California and would get it for her in New York. She is the reason I started getting so involved in Medical Marijuana. I could not believe the difference it made in her ability to live semi-normal towards the end of her life. She was no longer the frail, sick person. She was the person I grew up.
I wish my Uncle was now able to legally benefit from Marijuana so he can spend some better time with his Grand children.
