I will Pay My Taxes

I lived and worked in Europe paid my taxes like the German Government wanted, moved back to the States and have never complained about paying my taxes. The Governor of New York State wants to push a tax on Marijuana. He wants me to go into the department of taxation and request a tax stamp. Do I have a problem with this? No I do not. I will pay my taxes I will not complain about my taxes. I will provide my information to the government when I pay these taxes, if...

Governor Spitzer must make it so I am not self incriminating myself. I do not want the cops coming to my house the night after I pay my taxes. I do not want to be arrested for my purchase. I do not want to be arrested for possession just because I paid my taxes.

Why do I feel this way? I am willing to pay my taxes because I am sure that if the NY government saw how much revenue they could receive by taking away the Black Market side of Marijuana, they will want to control use by responsible users.

you may say something like, "you can't control this weed." My response to you is, I am disabled do you honestly think that the people like me are going to limp my way into the field to cultivate my own plants? I am on a fixed income, it would be cheaper for me to purchase marijuana than set up my own grow operation in my house. I do not have the room and have a hard enough time paying my electric bill. Do you honestly believe I am going to hook up the correct lighting to have my house grow these plants.

My friend loves brewing his own beer. Does he still go to the store to get his beer? Of course he does.

Governor Spitzer, make me pay taxes on my marijuana, just make it legal in my possession. You do this and you will surpass your estimated $13 million income this year.

I'm from New York too, and I

I'm from New York too, and I sure hoping it's not a trap, because if people did come forward and pay, then there would be extra revenue, and maybe, like you said, it will be easier to legalise it. One thing though, I don't think there will be a lot of revenue for the states if they fall into this trap like California where the people can still be fired from their jobs for smoking marijuana.

It kills me how the pharmaceutical companies are allowed to 'prescribe' dangerous drugs like Oxycontin, and people are allowed to work all drugged up on big pharma's drugs, but they are not allowed to smoke a joint at night before they go to bed. I think the reason is that marijuana would mess with big pharma's drugs like Ambien, and all those other dangerous addicting sleep medications.

You're absolutely right, but

You're absolutely right, but you have to keep in mind that you are applying LOGIC to these laws, when there is none. Of course it's insane that you're allowed to eat OC or vikedin or some such synthetic opiate that is going to pretty much slam you, but being stoned, the natural, plant derived medicine is too much. They're nuts.

The only thing we can do is keep proving that Marijuana is a legit medicine and MUCH safer to use than anything Pfizer ever brewed up. Let your voice be heard, tell your representatives, post news on a website, tell your friends :P

I am not sure what Gov.

I am not sure what Gov. Spitzers goals are but think about what he has done so far, or proposed to do so far.  He is either trying to make money off of illegal activity or he is trying to get the people doing illegal activity to admit it so the government can track them.

First it was the Drivers License for Illegal Immagrants, lets get a database of all illegal immagrants that live in NY then we can find them and trace their activity.  Now it is Taxation of Illegal drugs, Lets get Dealers (and his definition of Dealer is anyone with a drug in their possession) to provide us their name and address so the Government can track their activity.

The worst thing about it is

The worst thing about it is I was invited to talk to my district Senator about Medical Marijuana and although he is in support of it he will not push to get it passed. He believes it is worthless since the Federal Government views it as no medical value then the State will end up with more interaction by the DEA. He gets all the news from California and hears the problems with the DEA over there. what hw doesn't understand is that the othe 12 states that have Medical Marijuana Laws have them written so there really isn't anything the DEA is going to do. It is the matterof how the bill is written and how it is carried out. As long as the DEA can see the marijuana going to those that have doctor approval it will be fine.
