Huntington Beach is one of several cities that in the last several years has shied away from an 11-year-old law enacted by voters that allows medical marijuana dispensaries to open and operate in the state.Violence? I doubt it.
Huntington has no medical marijuana dispensaries. The closest legal medical marijuana dispensaries are located in Los Angeles.
Mayor Gil Coerper said he believes there are better alternatives than medical marijuana to ease the pain of illnesses. He said medical marijuana dispensaries can promote violence.

The OC Register posted news of talks to place a ban on medical Marijuana dispensaries in Huntington Beach, CA. It seems the city council is worried that a pot club would bring violence and other ills to their city, here's a snip from the article:

I could not understand this until I thought-
Yes they are right the Dispensaries can promote violence. Here is Jane Doe looking over the different strands so she can find the one that will best benefit her then all of a sudden there are these people running into the building with weapons. This is enough to give me a heart attack thinking that some drug lords want this place shut down. Then I think, hmm why are they all wearing the same jackets and remember that the Gang symbol on the back stands for Drug Enforcement Administration. These people throw Jane Doe out of her wheel chair and pin her hands behind her back while pointing their weapons at her.
It is correct it can get pretty violent.
