Senator McCain Belittles Medical Marijuana Activist

Here's a video of Senator John McCain answering questions at a town hall meeting in New Hampshire. A medical marijuana activist attempts to ask the senator his stance on the medicinal use of Marijuana, but is interrupted, belittled and laughed at. Is this someone you want leading your country?

My favorite part is the very end where McCain backs his way out of the hole he dug himself into and actually received an applause from the audience.. great town. I'd move there in a heart beat.

Simply amazing. I don't understand how someone who has cancer can sit there and diminish someone who is looking to protect individuals who have similar ailments who can benefit from Marijuana. Astounding. I know that the news is out about Medical Marijuana from numerous medical journals both domestic and international and they still feel that its negative. I am so sick of it. I am glad so many states are taking stand and legalizing it on a state per state basis. Hopefully when the pressure is on the federal government will realize that a joint is not equal to heroine, crack, etc.

This is such a disappointment to me.Ã‚Â Senator McCain is an American Hero and would do a lot for us Disabled Veterans.Ã‚Â Unfortunatly, this is a very important issue that can not be over looked.Ã‚Â So a little Compassion and atleast let the guy talk without your jokes.Ã‚Â You just laughed in the face of all of us that would benefit from Medical Marijuana.

The kid asked the wrong question. Asking politicians "yes" or "no" questions is giving them an easy out. "No, I would not jail them but I am against medical marijuana and have said so for years" doesn't actually address the roots of any issues. The real questions that should be asked are ones that first present facts about marijuana (such as the fact that studies have demonstrated lesser long-term effects than tobacco, and less impairing short term effects than alcohol), and then ask the politician why, if alcohol and tobacco are legal, is marijuana illegal. I have never in my life heard a legitimate defense of the law when the question is phrased in that manner.

Marijuana prohibiton should be a huge issue right now. Its great for the environment, you can power a car with it, it does FAR less damage to your body than drinking alcohol. If a candidate is willing to end prohibition, that candidate will have my vote.

Yeah, you'd think it would be a big topic... but Marijuana is still seen as an evil and dangerous gateway drug and is not recognized by the FDA as a medicine, even when millions of users all over the world preach its healing powers. When will America drink the bong water?
